Take a look at your impact: Thank you from The Hnatyshyn Foundation
June 16, 2023
As we celebrate our twentieth anniversary, we thank you for the support we have received over the years. To our friends, donors, jurors, board members, and past staff, and to all artists who bring joy and healing to our world: thank you.
To launch us into the next years of our work, we have prepared a video that commemorates our impact to date. Featuring words from Gerda Hnatyshyn and from laureates of our 2017 REVEAL Indigenous Art Awards and our 2022 Ukraine - Heritage, Spirit and Future Awards: Deantha Edmunds, Borys Ostapienko, Lena Saltykova, and the Moravski Chamber Choir in Kyiv, this is for you, artists and art-lovers.
None of this would have been possible without you. In 20 years, the Hnatyshyn Foundation has supported Canadian artists with over $4.3 Million in awards, grants and residencies to emerging and mid-career artists, including:
Over $1.5 Million to Indigenous artists;
$100,000 to Canadian artists of Ukrainian heritage;
$100,000 to Ukrainian artists impacted by the war;
And over $1.3 Million to undergraduate and graduate students in the performing arts.
We will be celebrating this milestone at our upcoming gala, on June 25th, where we will toast to 20 years and raise funds to help restore an arts facility that has been damaged by the ongoing war in Ukraine. We are working with Ukraine’s Embassy in Ottawa and the Ukrainian Ministry of Culture to narrow down the list of receiving institutions in need of our support.
Tickets are “pay what you can,” and we encourage everyone to attend! Celebrate with us, and enjoy the music and dance of our Ukraine - Heritage, Spirit and Future laureates.
