Reflecting on 2024: Read our annual report!

April 3, 2025

Dear artists and supporters,

Looking back at 2024, we are immensely proud of our work to support and celebrate Canadian artists. Thanks to an increase in the value of nearly all of our awards and the development of new programs, last year, we invested over $260,000 in the development of Canada’s dynamic landscape.

We invite you to read our 2024 annual report to learn about the exceptional artists we supported! We hope you will take pride in knowing that you contributed to our mission this year and that the arts are in the capable hands of our laureates, jurors, and the Canadian arts community at large.

What’s next: our plans for 2025

We have already started to build on last year’s achievements. Most significantly, in addition to our existing programs, we are preparing to award the inaugural Gerda Hnatyshyn Launch Grants, which will support the creation of new projects by emerging performing artists. We have received many exceptional nominations and look forward to discovering the results of the jurors’ deliberations.

Likewise, we have introduced runner-up prizes for two of our core programs, thus increasing the number of artists receiving our support going forward: there will be eight runner-up prizes for our Developing Artist Grants for performing arts students, and three finalist prizes for our William and Meredith Saunderson Prizes for emerging visual artists. We are still accepting nominations for the Saunderson Prizes (deadline: April 14th).

We are very grateful for your ongoing support and encouragement, without which our programs would not be possible.

Thank you for contributing to Canadian artistic excellence!

Sincerely,

Cynthia White Thornley

Chairperson
